INTRODUCE CR MA

Resident Artist

CR Ma

Common sense will lead you to another common sense and so on. But the logics failed terribly when you enter the fortress mind of Fabuleux Productions' resident artist, CR Ma. 99% of chances he will tune you up to the 'stairs of imagination' so wildly that you dare to expect the unexpected, and in the end duly satisfied with a renew virtue.

Received his early nurture at Multimedia University majoring in film & animation, Ma explores his own styles and mastering it all the way with a will to come up something worth more than conventional show casting. Combining visual arts and twisting plots, Ma created several works that showing signs of his unwavering and promising talent.

Believing in the sense is nothing wrong, but maybe it is time for us to hold back a little, and drain into the world of the creative generations.

Let's find out more from Ma

Someone ought to ask this: "What can we expect from you, in terms of yourself as a person and as an artist?"

I like to give hope to someone as in asking help from others on doing something they might never have the chance on doing it. Provided with my passion on filmmaking, somehow I like to involves my friends to work on something mean special within us. I believe the best way to work with everyone is by treating them as FRIENDS.

Being an artist is always been challenging for me in terms of creating originality of the content. That's what I intended to do all the time. I would like my work to be able to amaze people. Anyway, it's still far for me to get to that stage... Still searching a unique style in visual and story communication.

It must be hard living in a country that still consider low in appreciations for the creative scene.

Currently working in post house, working on 3 animation shorts. Involved in cinematography development and online compositing.

Meantime preparing for a film for next year, it will be a serious VFX film.

In your opinion, why Malaysian movie industry seems to be falling behind all the time? Are we lacking in budget or what are the missing pieces?

Many issues involved, of course discipline, budget, investors, film industry, maturity of the local audience, professionalism of local talents and productions... But I still believe, it will be changed when the Man of the Man has arrived.

Independence VS Commercial

Independence = Sleep at home
Commercial = Sleep at office :)

With a constrain environment, how could a new artist stands out and getting the acceptance from the mass audience?

I always believe that whenever there is constrain, it is a chance to push you to another limit, where creativity comes to solve everything. If you build a building without constrain, it's just an ordinary building. Somehow with constrain it shapes the new artist to think in a better way on problem solving. At the end of the day, it's just the matter of time and experience for the new artist to find out how to apply his/her own unique style and thoughts to cater the mass's taste. They do not get restricted to the constrain environment.

Your perfect production would be...

Having Ben Stiller and Stephen Chow together in a movie.

Fast forward to 2020, what do you hope to achieve by then?

Hopefully I am still alive with my own brand of visual senses.

I am confident that Malaysia will have its own movie industry at that time. I would like to play a role in helping the industry to grow no matter in education or funding. Especially helping the young talents.
